Question mark ... Jones Jr says Green's wraps were illegal. Sam Mooy

Roy Jones Jr accuses Danny Green of cheating in world cruiserweight bout
By staff writers
December 18, 2009
Roy Jones Jr has accused Danny Green of cheating in their world cruiserweight title bout two weeks ago as the war of words between the two fighters continued.

Green scored a thrilling first-round knockout in Sydney, but Jones Jr has questioned the methods of Green and his camp.

"I'd rather lose fair than win cheating," Jones Jr said in an interview on US website Boxingtalk.com.

Jones complained that the gauze under Green’s wraps was illegal and also claimed that Green’s knockout blow struck him in the back of the head.

"I'm a fighter, pound for pound one of the best, but you can't hit me in the back of the head with a baseball bat and think it won't do something to me," he said.

"They allowed him to wrap his hands two hours earlier and they allowed him to use stuff that they not supposed to use. The gauze that you use isn't supposed to have no adhesive nothing on it, you know what I mean?"

Green responded to Jones’s comments by saying: “I must have hit Roy Jones harder than I thought.”

Jones also claimed that the Green camp attempted to make the 40-year-old wear "used" gloves in the bout.

"They first try to give me a pair of used gloves, I said, 'how am I going to fight in used gloves?' Then they gave me new gloves and by then we saw how they was wrapping his hands and we were complaining because from what we're used to this is illegal.

"They said no, you're not fighting in used gloves now so we're going to let his hands stay wrapped just the way they are. Then he hits you with a shot behind the head with a cast on."

Meanwhile, Green is aiming to use demolition of Jones to secure a fight with another American legend, 44-year-old Bernard Hopkins.

Green fappe plus que fort, heureusement qu'il protège ses phalanges...
Telle est la vie des hommes, quelques joies très vite effacées par d'inoubliables chagrins.
Il n'est pas utile de le dire aux enfants!
